The charity event "Bulgaria Sotheby’s International Realty for UNICEF" raised over 100,000 leva for the protection of children from violence in Bulgaria.
On October 1st, Bulgaria Sotheby's International Realty held the first gala dinner of its kind in Bulgaria, featuring a charity auction to raise funds in support of UNICEF's "Zone ZaKrila" initiative.
The elegant "Boyana" residence in Sofia hosted over 250 guests, including prominent figures from the business, arts, sports, and media sectors, united by a shared concern for the safety and well-being of children.
During the event, guests had the opportunity to bid on impressive artworks by renowned Bulgarian artists such as Genko Genkov, Stoyan Venev, and Georgi Papazov, as well as masterpieces from contemporary Bulgarian artists Iliana Ilieva and Nikyoto, a personally signed photograph by Christo, a unique vintage car, and exclusive experiences. The auction was led by George North, an iconic figure in the auction world, who has conducted numerous auctions for Sotheby's in London.
The funds raised from the auction will support the expansion of UNICEF's "Zone ZaKrila" centers, which provide comprehensive support for children and families affected by violence.
In this spirit, Mr. Hristo Angelkov, managing partner of Bulgaria Sotheby's International Realty and the idea behind the charity event, remarked: "As representatives of the largest international luxury real estate company, Sotheby’s International Realty, we were honored to earn UNICEF's trust and organize a charity auction in support of the children of Bulgaria. The event was extremely successful, and we plan to make it an annual tradition. I am excited not only because of the occasion that brings us together today but also because of the cause behind it—the support of the most vulnerable among us—children. Just as Bulgaria Sotheby’s International Realty cares for your home and comfort, we all need to extend a helping hand to UNICEF in their fight to ensure that every child has a home, love, and protection."
To support the cause and the event, Natalie Meek, Vice President of EMEA Sotheby's International Realty, attended the special evening. In her speech, she emphasized the brand's commitment to supporting significant and large causes.
Kristina de Bruin, UNICEF's representative in Bulgaria, also expressed her gratitude to the organizers and attendees for their support of the cause.
The artistic performances of Poli Genova and Vladimir Ampov - Grafa, national goodwill ambassadors for UNICEF in Bulgaria, contributed to the evening's ambiance. Actress Elena Petrova, also a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF in Bulgaria, took to the stage to encourage guests to join the fight for the protection of children from violence. She informed the audience about the issues, goals, and steps needed in our fight for a better future for every child. The funds raised will directly assist over 1,000 children and families in Bulgaria affected by violence, with plans to train an additional 500 specialists over the next two years. These specialists will be prepared to provide enhanced care and support to over 15,000 at-risk children nationwide.
This charity evening of such a significant scale was made possible thanks to many generous and kind-hearted individuals, including the general sponsor, Vitosha Art, as well as the support of gold sponsors —ARTEKS ENGINEERING AD, FPI, and Silver Star—who embraced the noble cause of Bulgaria Sotheby's International Realty and UNICEF as their own. Our gracious partners, including Katarzyna Estate, Amo la Vita, Wine Box, My Choice and Chef Nikola Simeonov, Rice Up, Zeiss Vision Center, Delion, Beluga, Pernod Ricard, Chivas, Arcutino Residence, Delta Force, NDB, and Speedy, along with all the event guests, made significant contributions to the success of the beautiful evening.
This charity event certainly marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between Bulgaria Sotheby's International Realty and UNICEF, with the company remaining dedicated to achieving positive social impact through its global network and strong local partnerships.
